With hot beverages being all the rage as we trail into the end of the year, I wanted to share this DIY hot cocoa recipe that’s perfect for those times you want something dairy free, sugar free (optionally) and simple to make but still rich in flavor. Using just 5-ingredients, I’ll show you step-by-step how to make this simple and nostalgic chocolate goodness. Remember, you can always tailor things to suit your taste, so adjust the recipe until you find something that’s perfect for your palette! Get the delicious and nutritious recipe from the video below.
Ingredients and Measurements for 1-16 ounce or 2-8 ounce cups:
• 2 Cups Non-‐Dairy Milk (almond, coconut, cashew, soy, flax or hemp)
• 2 Packets Stevia or ½-1 Tablespoon Sweetener of Choice
• 2 Tbsp Raw Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
• ¼ – ½ tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
• 1/8 tsp or dash to taste Sea Salt
In a small sauce pan, combine dry ingredients with non-dairy milk and vanilla, stirring over medium-high heat. Allow to simmer for 5 seconds, reducing to low or no heat, continuing to stir until ingredients look rich and creamy. Pour, add optional marshmallows or whipped cream (let cool) and enjoy!
